About Us:

The UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation (UHCCF) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides medical grants to help children gain access to health-related services not covered, or not fully covered, by their family’s commercial health insurance plan. Families can receive up to $5,000 annually per child ($10,000 lifetime maximum per child), and do not need to have insurance through UnitedHealthcare to be eligible. UHCCF was founded in 1999. Since 2007, UHCCF has awarded 15,000 grants valued at $40M to children and their families across the United States. UHCCF’s funding is provided by contributions from individuals, corporations and UnitedHealth Group employees.

Philosophy: The Foundation embraces and supports the concept of facilitating access to health-related services that have the potential to significantly enhance either the clinical condition or the quality of life of the child and that are not fully covered by the available commercial health insurance plan. The Foundation provides financial assistance toward the family's share of the cost of medical services.

*Please know that two weeks prior to race day, $500 minimum fundraising dollars will be charged to the card on your CrowdRise account.

Holiday Grins2 – Help 2 Children with 1 Donation

Send Smiles to Children in Hospitals this Holiday Season!

Did you know that the UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation (UHCCF) delivered 848 Oliver® the Bear plush toys and 251 Grins to Go® activity bags last year to kids who were hospitalized?

These gifts brought joy to not just ONE but TWO children! While one child in a hospital received a healthy dose of laughter and inspiration from the Grins2 gift, these contributions also helped a second child receive the medical treatment they need through a UHCCF medical grant.

This holiday season, you can help the UHCCF team continue to deliver a dose of smiles. You can purchase any UHCCF product and have it delivered to one of the participating organizations as part of the Grins2 program. It's the easiest way to make two kids feel great when they need it most.

Together, we really DO change lives!

UHCCF Hope’s Fall Fun Run Virtual 5K

Everyone has a story of hope but for the UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation (UHCCF), hope signifies much more. Hope is our icon. Hope is alive. She is the calm and ever-present butterfly that accompanies Oliver® the bear on his many adventures in the Oliver & Hope's® storybooks. Some believe she symbolizes Oliver’s conscience, but the symbolism does not end there, her colorful wings have their own story, too.

The orange wing is a tribute to George, the son of a friend of UHCCF whose courage, charm and loving nature won the hearts of everyone around him. George passed away at the tender age of eight, but leaves behind a legacy of service and courage that we remember with each grant we award. Orange was his favorite color.

Similarly, the purple wing is dedicated to Tom Barbera, founder of UHCCF. It was his idea to create a program to support children whose family were middle income earners, an often-overlooked part of the population that still require assistance, particularly when their children are sick. Tom passed away in March 2020, but through UHCCF, which he started, he continues to help children and families across the country.

So as you see, we all have a story of hope, and at UHCCF we believe that ‘Hope represents the quiet and graceful, yet powerful spread of assistance and smiles.’

Join us in harvesting Hope this Fall by participating in the inaugural UHCCF Hope’s Fall Fun Run Virtual 5K on October 30th, 2021 with your family, friends and peers!
