A Minute with Matt
Dear Friends,
2010 was a wonderful year for UHCCF!
- We awarded 787 medical grants, which is 75% more grants than the previous year. These grants are worth an estimated $2.66 million.
- 8,000 of our employees pledged over $2.49 million, which included the UnitedHealth Group match. This represents a 15% increase over last year.
- A national press release followed by radio public service announcements aired on 1,300 radio stations over 170,000 times throughout the country.
- We sponsored over 30 awareness and fundraising events including golf tournaments, silent auctions, wine tasting and marathon events. One of these events was our first charitable golf event at the Hazeltine National course in Chaska, Minnesota, which raised $160,000.
- UHCCF received promotion and contributions through the pro-cycling team sponsored by UnitedHealthcare.
- We completed outreach efforts to pediatricians, children's advocacy organizations, children's hospitals and the Internet.
- We published our first ever UHCCF annual report. In addition, we produced a UHCCF calendar and holiday cards.
All of our accomplishments are only possible because of the many people who help us. We owe a debt of gratitude and extend a huge thank you to all of our national and regional board members, the members of our project team, our committed employees and our many friends who volunteer their time and talents to advance the work of UHCCF.
This year will be equally exciting as we continue with a number of ongoing awareness and fundraising efforts as well as launching some new ones. In this issue of Wings of Hope, we are excited to share with you some information about our new CaringBridge partnership and to introduce you to four of our UHCCF kids.
